Our Story

BRIEF HISTORY OF OUR PARENT CHURCH

The Apostolic Church originated in Wales in 1915, influenced by a global Pentecostal movement characterized by the belief in the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Founded by Daniel Powell Williams and William Jones Williams, it emphasized the New Testament offices of Apostles and Prophets. The Church spread to Ghana in 1935 under Pastor George Perfect, followed by Pastor James Mckeown’s arrival in 1937. Despite initial challenges and splits, the Church flourished, with its headquarters later transferred to Accra. Over the years, the Church expanded, establishing branches across Ghana and beyond, including Togo, Benin, and North America. In 1985, the Ghanaian branch celebrated autonomy, appointing its first Ghanaian president, Apostle A. Ofori-Addo. Subsequent presidents oversaw further growth and development, including Apostle E. N. Abebrese, who implemented Vision 2015, focusing on spiritual growth, evangelism, and infrastructure development. Under his leadership, the Church experienced significant expansion and improvement in its organizational capacity.

Guiding Principles That Define Our Approach

Who are we?

The Apostolic Church, Ghana, is one of the denominations or families of Churches that have arisen from the Pentecostal Movement that flowed from the Welsh Revival in 1904-05. It is self-governing and has local churches in every District in Ghana or branches with a National Headquarters in Accra.

Why we exist

As a movement, we are passionate about seeing individual lives connecting with Christ, being empowered by the Holy Spirit, equipped to fulfill their God-given purpose, and released in mission for the glory of God.

Fellowship

‘Fellowship’ is a cornerstone of our community, fostering strong relationships and a sense of unity among believers who share our values.

Aim Of The Church

The primary aim of the Church is to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ and adhere faithfully to the teachings of the Apostles. To achieve this, the Church shall

  1. Encourage and facilitate evangelism efforts.
  2. Foster fellowship among believers by establishing and maintaining Assemblies.
  3. Receive tithes, offerings, and donations in accordance with biblical principles to support the Church’s work.
  4. Establish and oversee various departments and institutions, including Bible Schools, Healthcare facilities, Agricultural projects, Educational Institutions, Printing presses, Bookshops, and other ventures essential for Gospel propagation.
  5. Possess the authority to acquire, manage, and dispose of both real and personal property, as well as to invest funds prudently to further the Church’s mission, including bonds, debentures, and other financial instruments, and to enter into necessary contracts and agreements.
